Pontian Greek Society of Chicago "Xeniteas"
Special events the Pontian Greek Society of Chicago "Xeniteas" will be hosting to commemorate and
promote awareness of the Pontian and Anatolian Greek Genocide.
Sunday, May 17 -- Day of Remembrance Memorial Service, Saints Constantine and Helen, 11025-45 S Roberts Rd.,
Palos Hills, IL during church service.
Refreshments will be served after church service. May 19 has been officially recognized as the Day of Remembrance for
the 353,000 Pontian Greek Orthodox Christians who lost their lives at the hands of the Turks during the period of
1914-1923.This year we commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Pontian Greek Genocide.
Saturday, May 23 -- Public lecture by Dr. Constantine Hatzidimitriou, Duke Realty Corp. Auditorium at 5:00PM,
entitled American Accounts Documenting the Destruction of Smyrna.
Admission and parking is free. Refreshments will be served.
Thursday, May 28 -- Fund Raising Benefit for The Center of Asia Minor and Pontus at Atlantis Banquets in Arlington
Heights, IL. Cocktails at 6:30 PM and Dinner at 7:30 PM.
Donations $100 with a grand prize of $1500. Every 10th ticket chosen wins $50.
